My Top 14 Series I Plan on Reading in 2014

I'm not even going to pretend that I'm not a slacker when it comes to my commitment to reading series.  Unless it's fabulous I tend to stop reading it around the second book.  But this year I'm making a promise to all those books out there that I have failed that I will complete you!

 14. The Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld

I have never really had much of an interest in this series because I hate the idea of plastic surgery.  I know the books are probably saying you're beautiful just the way you are, but I'm not really sure how this will be dragged out through four books. However I was able to purchase the entire series at my work during a book swap for $2, so I decided it was time to see what all the hype was about like 5 years later.

13. The Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen

A gossip girls version set in the Victorian period.  What's not to like?  I mean have you taken a serious look at their dresses!  I want the purple one...it's mine!  This will be my first contemporary series in a very long time since probably middle school and the Babysitters Club, so I'm really looking forward to giving this a try.

12. The Demon Trapper's Daughter Series by Jana Oliver

Ok...I have read the first book in this series and LOVED it, but I just never got around to buying the other books until this year.  I'm so excited to reread the first and finish this series up because I remember crushing on Beck pretty hard.

11.  The Curse Workers Series by Holly Black.

I read White Cat and really liked it, but it was a library book.  I spent a couple years hoping that the library would buy the next two.  I gave up counting on them and just bought the series on Amazon.

10. Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead

I understand that I maybe the last person in the world to read this series, but Twilight killed my love of vampires.  I took a serious reading break from anything that had to do with vampires, but my best friend would not shut up about this series.  She wouldn't even lend me the books because they are like her babies.  So between the movie coming out and my bestie, I have succumb to the peer pressure and purchased the series.

9. The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

I'm a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series.  I bought each one of the Kane books as it was released, but never read them.  Why?  I don't know maybe because it's not Percy Jackson.  Goal:  Overcome my Percy Jackson obsession and read this series.

8. Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan

Stop! I know Percy Jackson is in these, but I really didn't want to read each one and wait to find out what was going to happen to Percy.  I couldn't take the pressure that Rick would cause me!  So since the last book is coming out in 2014, I will be seeing what all my favorites are finally up too!

7.  Legend Series by Marie Lu

Legend was one of my favorite books this year, but for various reasons I never bought the other two.  Well it's a new year and I will finish this series immediately because Day is my boy!

6. Ruby Red Trilogy by Kirstin Gier

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to read this trilogy.  I read Ruby Red about two years ago and have been dying to read the other two.  What I find really wonderful about this series is that it is written by a German author and translated.

5. Incarnate Series by Jodi Meadows

First of all, I really had no intentions of buying this series until I saw the books on bookoutlet.com for a ridiculous price.  The covers are beautiful and so are the hardbacks.  I'm reading this series for the covers.  Does this make me a cover whore?

4. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

I have no idea if the third one is going to released in 2014, but I will be ready for it.  This series looks amazing, and I seriously can't wait to start reading it. Plus I have no idea what the series is about, and I love to go blind into a series.

3.  The Immortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare

Don't yell at me yet...I have read the first three, and I really loved them.  I loaned them out to share the love.  Then I found out that Clare was adding more to the series that sounded good to me.  I would love to see what happens to Simon, Alec, Magnus, and everyone else, but then I heard that she just had to fuck up Jace and Clary's relationship.  So I refused to read the rest until the last book was published because in my world Jace and Clary are happy ever after living it up on some island.  So there Cassandra!

2. The Forest of Hands and Teeth Series by Carrie Ryan

I LOVE zombie or apocalypse stories.  I never picked up these books because I didn't like the covers or the titles.  Petty but true.  Then I found out that there was a bit of horror to the story, and that was it.  I had to buy the whole series.

1. The Darkest Minds Trilogy by Alexandra Bracken

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this series!  The characters are amazing.  Liam is my super secret boyfriend.  Chubs is my best friend.  I just can not wait to get my hands on the final book that we do not know the name of because the titles form a sentence. "The darkest minds never fade..." Away? Into Light? I need to know!  Plus Bracken left on a huge cliff hanger.  I need the last book now!

These are the series I plan on completing this year.  I know I will read plenty more than these because I'm going to give myself a Goodreads goal of 75 books this year.  It might be a crazy goal, but I can do it!  It's the start of a new year which means I can do anything!
